Awesome! fantastic use of sound fx I must say. Great smooth animation too, especially when it comes to the main model. The shadow shot is beautiful as well.
To improve, I think the two things that would take this to the next level would be-
1) Facial expression. If you watch the man's face the whole time, it only moves at the end, and while extremely difficult, facial movement could make this all the more special
2) making sure everything is moving. What I mean is, while one character may be doing something important, everything else in the shot is still. If you show small movement from other things while the main element is going on, it makes the film more lifelike.

Nice work! My favorite part was at 16 seconds when the monster looked huge and intimidating coming out of the ground.
I thought you did a great job with the fire. The lip syncing matched up well also.
I agree with more facial expressions being a good thing to continue to work on.
Hope to see more from you.

Ah, always love your sound effect work! To work on the facial expressions, I might suggest having multiple heads or mouths and swapping them in and out to change faces. Just a thought.
I agree about the shot with the shadow, not easy to pull that off and yet you did it so well!
